This Ojibwe Turtle Shell Rattle was handcrafted by Ojibwe Artisan and Elder Harvey Bonga.
The rattle is made from a turtle shell, cords are made from leather, a Diamond Willow stick is used for the handle.
Decorated with fur, small feathers, blue and green beads.
Small Quartz stones make the rattling sound.
The rattle is about 5 1/2 by 4-inches. The handle is 11 1/2 inches long and made of Diamond Willow. Altogether about 17 inches long. This rattle is new, has never been used ceremonially and was made for sale. Sturdy enough to be used, beautiful enough to be put on display.
Made for Bam'idizowigamig Creator's Place by Pine Point Artisans of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe located in Northern Minnesota.
